“You can also check in via cell phone number– each of the major Japanese cell networks has a simple disaster board that can check to see if they’ve left any messages with their respective network’s message board, whether it’s NTT DoCoMo, SoftBank, or KDDI AU.”

Want to donate money or volunteer?
==================================
Unless you are a trained emergency responder, have extensive medical, engineering or logistics experience in post-disaster zones, and are *already* affiliated with an emergency response agency (plus have been fully vetted AND speak *some* Japanese), DO NOT attempt to go to Japan to help.
Your intentions are good, but you will get in the way and actually *impede* help efforts. Donate money (not “stuff”) instead.

~Homecoming
So excited to be back at one of my former workplaces!
Also excited about a new training program I found on Admin Secret last night– ProAssisting.com. At a glance it has the advice, guides and templates I wish I had when I first started at the United Nations. New stimuli and real material that makes sense and will let me sharpen my claws properly. 🙂
And it was *wonderful* to see my colleagues so happy to see me return. I missed them so much too. We did a little happy dance once things were confirmed.
Thrilled to have returned to one of my more fulfilling purposes.

Climbing back into the saddle…
I’ve been recently named the assistant director for the Science Track at Dragon*Con. It’s gratifying to know that I’ve synthesized the skills I learned during a stint at the Vitamin Shoppe and becoming more proficient in my events programming ability. Ahh…. few things make me as happy as dumping lots of info into Trumba and sculpting something useful and pretty at the same time.
Oh, and I’m going to Rajiv and Julie’s wedding today. 😀 –~^..^~
Mid-level Java programmer needed for 1 week. Reqs: Win2k3 server, javascripts for HEAT project.
Email me for recruiter contact info, thx. –~^..^~
Closing Down the Shop for a Bit
FYI– I need to opt-out of being social/online presence builing for a few days so I can focus on my immediate needs. I’m reducing contact unless it’s directly beneficial. Thanks for your patience. Will return once I’ve had some breathing room. –~^..^~

After trying to figure out for weeks how to put the Twitter widget on my wordpress blog, they now offer an official Twitter widget. SO easy. YAY! –~^..^~

Track Leader for Gaming Guests
Ni hao,
Just an update. There was an extension for the event, but…
1211 T 17 Mar 2009
I am no longer affiliated with the organization and have been advised to remove information regarding their programming from all of my online systems for my legal protection.
I-CON 28 management has changed the event and you must refer to their main website (http://iconsf.org) for any updates regarding it. The registration will have to start over from scratch. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience.
Good luck and enjoy the rearranged function. For obvious reasons, I won’t be attending, but I’d be really grateful if pictures were posted and I’m remembered by someone at the event.
Xiexie!

Catch you later at my con – http://nycsf.org or yours!
Like the programming I put together for I-CON 28’s Gaming Guests Track?
Imagine that same high quality craftmanship applied to *your* personal schedule when you go to Gen Con Indy, Origins, DEXCON, or any of the myriad gaming, scifi and anime cons that are out there. Don’t forget the tango festivals.
Feel like a Guest with the personal care and attention of an experienced TL! Hand off most of the organizing, scheduling, and double checking to someone who does it for the industry pros.
Email to inquire about contract arrangements or inform me of a new con on the horizon that you’d like to attend and feel should be added to the map.
Thank you!
